Anti-interview with David Rose
Tuesday, September 20th, 2011This is not an interview. I do not want to probe, or enter, to delve, to fathom; I do not want to see, or examine, I am not a surveyor. This is not an interview. Most interviews are boring, trite, an exercise in the ostentatious, the pavonine, an anthology of name dropping, sesquipedalianism, back-slapping, sycophantic saliva swapping. I have a few things that I want to share, this tête-à-tête is basically all about me, and to show me off in a wonderful, iridescent light I am going to employ not a light bulb but a great writer, and I mean a great writer, and hopefully some of the greatness will rub off on me. Lodestar Festival 2011 Creative Challenge
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011Last weekend the Honest team attended Lodestar Festival. Armed with our books, a freshly made banner by local artist Ruth Martindale, and of course, cupcakes, we were all set to entertain the likes of Cage the Elephant with our raw and uncompromising Brit-lit.
Who knows if that’s what we did, but what we can be sure of is that we consumed more wood-fired pizzas than would ever be recommended by the Department of Health, and an interesting combination of beer and coffee in that order. We also sold a few books; but mostly we just gave away cupcakes and watched the bands. (more…)

On National Book Week
Monday, September 5th, 2011The little man doesn’t stand a chance. The little woman even. That’s what I keep reading. The news. Shops are closing down, small businesses getting flushed away. It’s inevitable, like death.
Or is it? (more…)

We’re Local and Proud
Monday, August 22nd, 2011There’s nothing wrong with being local. In today’s all-encompassing world where your best mate may well be straddled to a microphone/webcam on the other side of the world, there’s a refreshing element to calling in at your local bookshop and seeing how things are. Saying a personal hello even. We’re based in Twickenham and we’re happy to say we’re supported by our local bookshop, Langton’s Bookshop. I know it well. In fact I did a reading there a few years back when I was trying to get my poetry heard. They had wine. And applause. I remember that wine.

Honest Publishing at Lodestar Festival
Saturday, August 13th, 2011Honest Publishing is proud to announce that we’ll be appearing at this year’s Lodestar festival, happening September 2nd – September 4th in the gloriously rural Cambridgeshire countryside. Here we shall be donning our Wellington boots and maybe (we are) having a book stall, where you can buy our range of independent literature.
Like alternative books? How about an alternative festival? Lodestar is an excellent choice for all those looking for a more chilled festival experience. Fed up with stomping for miles to find you missed your favourite band, or camping in the only space left (the toilets)? At Lodestar you’ll find a spacious, relaxed atmosphere, full of good people and great bands, and we’re thoroughly looking forward to it. (more…)
